Credit Manager – Property Development Finance

Role Purpose:
As a Credit Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the credit quality of new loans using the company’s credit models and policies, ensuring lenders do not take undue risks. Extensive knowledge and experience in development finance are essential.
Role Responsibilities:
* Adhere to sanction limits based on the company’s sanctioning matrix.
* Assist the Head of Credit in developing and recommending loan policies and establishing internal controls.
* Ensure all credit reports comply with company policies and guidelines.
* Report exceptions and provide recommendations to the Head of Credit.
* Advise on concentration risks and suggest mitigants.
* Identify and recommend improvements to policies and procedures.
* Stay updated on current rates, activities, and regulatory issues, incorporating them into decision-making.
* Maintain risk controls daily.
* Conduct pre-application discussions with Relationship Directors.
* Participate in Deal Forum and Borrower Review Forum meetings.
* Respond to pricing requests within service level agreements.
* Review sighting papers and credit reports, providing clear reasons for approval or decline.
* Address lender questions via the website Q&A.
* Coordinate with the deal team to ensure timely loan processing.
* Verify loan agreements comply with sanctions, conditions, and covenants before release.
* Ensure all conditions precedents are met before loan drawdown.
* Attend departmental meetings to promote credit knowledge.
* Monitor development loans post-deal, including drawdowns and updates.
* Provide redemption figures and loan statements.
* Attend client meetings as appropriate.
* Support and train new relationship staff.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
* Extensive experience in property development funding credit.
* Ability to make informed decisions on new deals.
* Awareness of broader business implications and a commercial mindset.
* Strong decision-making and communication skills.
* Attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* GCSE level education or equivalent.
* Experience in FCA-regulated environments and financial services roles.
* Excellent knowledge of loan, security, and financial documents.
