Role & Responsibilities

About the role: In this role you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the Royal Navy Training Design Service. As the Senior Training Designer you’ll support the Integrated Training Design Service to deliver learning that is blended, active and provides customer delight.


Responsibilities

* Accountable for all training courses assigned to you with regard to training transformation and advocate for training content that is active, engaging, inclusive and learner‑centric.
* Ensure processes that support review and change of training courses follow the end‑to‑end training design process, are DSAT compliant, consider media enhancements and adhere to quality standards, proactively addressing, resolving and escalating challenges.
* Develop DSAT documentation in TAFMIS.
* Produce and develop high‑quality training design, e‑learning and courseware materials, designing training courseware using a variety of media and technology.
* Contribute to overall instructional strategy, analyse and implement changes to training programmes, identifying effective and ineffective instructional design methodologies.
* Seek feedback and impact stories to further enhance training courses and continuously improve and celebrate the work completed; incorporate changes from validation into training design activity.
* Build strong stakeholder relationships with subject matter experts to positively contribute towards training transformation.
* Identify opportunities for accreditation of new or amended training and manage implications for existing accreditations following training design changes.
* Act as a technical lead to ensure processes follow the latest direction and guidance in accordance with defence policy.
* Support continuous professional development of self and coaching of assigned Training Designers.
* Follow health and safety responsibilities, security standards, and system requirements to protect data and ensure smooth operations.
* Perform any other duties required to support the Integrated Training Design Service.


Required Experience

* Previous experience in a Learning and Development role.
* Passion for learning, development and development of others.
* Excellent collaboration, communication, and ability to build strong relationships.
* Ambassador for learning, collaboration, and demonstration of best practices.
* Attention to detail, passion for quality, and ability to plan and multitask.
* Enthusiastic to learn, collaborate, and demonstrate best practices within the business and customers.
* Adaptive and flexible approach to evolving priorities.


Desirable Experience

* Experience with ADDIE model and Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
* Training and/or Instructional Design experience.
* Programme management tools and applications experience.
* Knowledge and practical experience of UK Ministry of Defence procedures and policies.
* Ability to contribute in a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to technical problems.
