Our children aged 4-11 all have an Education Health Care Plan identifying the need for specialist support and provision. Their initial learning profile is that of moderate learning difficulties (MLD), co-occurring with a range of diagnoses and medical and physical needs. Typically working within the Early Years and early Key Stage 1 level, our pupils are hugely determined, inspiring and ready for learning. We are well supported by families, our wider Trust partners and our Local Governing Body.

West Hill School is an outstanding special school with a designation to support 100 secondary aged pupils from 11-16 with complex learning difficulties (LD) who have a statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN). We have places for 80 pupils with associated LD and 20 pupils with LD and also a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Situated in North Leatherhead, West Hill supports pupils within the whole of the county and neighbouring authorities with an admissions process supported by the county placement panel.
We are also proud to be the first Surrey special school with Science specialist status and work closely with the Specialist School and Academies Trust to deliver excellence in Science for both our own pupils and the community of pupils within our confederation.
Our curriculum is creative and innovative to ensure that all our pupils achieve as much as they possibly can to flourish in adult life. Our staff and partners are dedicated to support and guide our pupils through their learning journey with us, equipping them with the skills to be as independent as possible both within school and in their futures. This is supported by our twelve core values which underpin our work and guide the decision making and support the strong and visible ethos of our school.
Our work includes supporting mainstream secondary schools with our ASD outreach service and we have an open door policy welcoming parents, support agencies and our community into our school.
