Karisla Healthcare is seeking an experienced and values-driven Responsible Individual (RI) to provide strategic leadership and governance oversight for its newly re-purposed children’s residential home specialising in complex care. This is a senior, influential role and a key appointment within the organisation, ensuring the service operates to the highest standards of care, compliance, and safeguarding in line with Ofsted regulations.
This opportunity offers professional autonomy, flexible working arrangements, and the chance to play a pivotal role in shaping a high-quality service from its early stages through registration and beyond. You will work closely with the Registered Manager, Directors, and wider senior leadership team to establish strong foundations, embed best practice, and drive continuous improvement.
The Role
As Responsible Individual, you will provide clear strategic direction and leadership, ensuring the home consistently meets regulatory, legislative, and organisational requirements. You will hold oversight of governance arrangements, quality assurance processes, and safeguarding practice, while supporting the Registered Manager to deliver outstanding care and outcomes for children and young people with complex needs.
You will take a lead role in Ofsted registration and inspections, ensuring the service is fully prepared, compliant, and confident in demonstrating safe, effective, and child-centred practice. Acting as a key link between the service, directors, and external stakeholders, you will ensure transparency, accountability, and robust decision-making at all levels.Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and company policies

Support, supervise, and challenge the Registered Manager, offering professional guidance and performance oversight.
*
Ensure strong governance arrangements are in place, promoting accountability, risk management, and continuous improvement.
*
Lead and oversee Ofsted registration, inspections, and quality assurance processes.
*
Maintain effective professional relationships with local authorities, commissioners, and external agencies.
*
Review monitoring reports, audits, complaints, and outcomes to identify risks, strengths, and areas for development.
*
Promote a culture of safeguarding, transparency, and child-centred practice across the service.
*
Ensure that safeguarding concerns, incidents, and regulatory notifications are managed appropriately and without delay.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a confident, reflective leader with a proven track record in senior leadership within children’s residential services. You will have a strong understanding of governance, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance, and the ability to influence and motivate senior teams.
Essential requirements include:
Proven experience as a Responsible Individual or senior leader within children’s residential care.

In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted inspection framework
*
Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification (or above).
*
Strong understanding of governance, safeguarding, and quality assurance.
*
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*
A professional, values-led approach with the confidence to challenge and support effectively.
*
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when required.
