Admin Officer – Luton Court (Temp)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), an agency of the Ministry of Justice, through Brook Street.


Job Details

* Pay Rate: £13.25 per hour
* Location: Luton Justice Centre
* Contract: Temporary ongoing until March 2026 (with a view to extend)
* Hours: Full‑time – 37 hours per week (Mon‑Fri, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

About Luton Justice Centre: The centre supports both Magistrates’ and Crown Court hearings, managing a variety of criminal and civil cases. It plays a key role in the delivery of justice, ensuring hearings run efficiently and professionally.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide face‑to‑face and telephone support to court users and legal professionals
* Prepare and process documents for court hearings
* Handle applications and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
* Support court clerking duties during hearings
* Scan and upload documents to internal databases
* Schedule hearings and issue court documents
* Process warrants and fines (including chip & pin payments)
* This is an office‑based role – remote work is not available


Skills & Experience Required

* Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
* Proven administrative experience and good knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
* Proactive approach with the ability to manage tasks independently
* Positive attitude and willingness to learn
* Previous experience in a court, legal, or government setting is desirable but not essential


Additional Information

* A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required prior to starting – Brook Street will arrange this.
