Overview
PERMANENT ROLE
Location: Birmingham or London - Predominantly office-based (minimum 4 days/week)
Clearance: MV/DV
Essential Skills & Experience
Primary Focus:
* ServiceNow platform (IT Service Management tool)
* Experience with ServiceNow on-premise environments is highly advantageous
* Familiarity with ServiceNow University training (e.g., Fundamentals, System Admin courses)
Secondary Skills:
* ITIL Service Management (preferably ITIL 4, but ITIL v3 also acceptable)
* Scripting and database backend design
* General software development aptitude (e.g., .NET exposure is a bonus but not core)
Essentials Experience
Competence in at least three of the following:
* Service Now System Administration
* ITIL Framework
* .NET (VB, C#, ASP.NET, .NET CORE)
* MVC Framework
* Python
* Jelly Scripting or JavaScript (REACT, Bootstrap Frameworks), Node.js
* Database design
* MySQL / SQL Server
* Linux Red Hat Enterprise
* NoSQL technologies e.g. MongoDB, ElasticSearch, etc.
* Experience and knowledge of the Government Security Classifications levels
* Highly motivated and determined to contribute to the mission. Engages in continuous learning to become a subject matter expert, particularly in technologies.
* Identifies and gathers relevant sources and types of information. Applies an analytical and logical mind-set to interpret large volumes of information, particularly quantitative. Considers alternative (including innovative and creative) approaches to solving problems.
* Considers options and makes clear, timely, justifiable decisions independently.
* Works co-operatively with others, developing positive working relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders (including senior colleagues).
* Organises tasks effectively and in line with the organisation’s objectives and priorities, prioritising and managing time well.
* Takes initiative and ownership for resolving problems, has a strong work ethic and manages the demands of the role effectively.
* Communicates effectively, using plain language and simplifying technical information appropriately to the audience. Excellent written communication skills with particular emphasis on strong scientific report-writing skills and documenting code.
Desirable Experience
* Working with cross-government ServiceNow forums (e.g., NHS, DWP, DEFRA)
* Integration experience with external systems (e.g., Foreign Office ServiceNow instances)
* Awareness of cloud vs on-premise deployment models
* Ability to prioritise, execute tasks and achieve results against competing project demands
* Knowledge of one or more of the below:
* Agile software development
* Test Driven Development (TDD)
* Continuous integration
* Cryptography and cryptanalysis
* Mobile App Development
* Secure by Design Coding.
* Preferred ITIL V3 or V4 Foundation certified
