Role Overview
As an
Accounts Associate
, you will support the delivery of high quality compliance and bookkeeping services for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role is ideal for a
qualified or part qualified Accountant (AAT/ACCA/ACA)
who is eager to develop their technical skills across bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, management accounts, and yearend accounts preparation. You'll work closely with senior team members, follow internal processes, and provide an excellent client experience through efficient communication and reliable support.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Compliance
* Complete bookkeeping tasks using cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).
* Prepare and submit
VAT returns
in line with MTD requirements.
* Prepare and submit
CIS returns
, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Maintain accurate financial records and reconciliations (bank, control accounts, ledgers).
Accounts Preparation
* Assist with
yearend accounts preparation
for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
* Support the production of monthly and quarterly
management accounts
, including journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation).
* Prepare working papers and ensure files are complete, accurate, and compliant.
Client Support & Communication
* Respond to client queries efficiently, maintaining professional and friendly communication.
* Build strong relationships by providing clear explanations and proactive updates.
* Work collaboratively with client managers and other team members to deliver an outstanding service.
Internal Processes & Compliance
* Follow internal workflows, procedures, and deadlines.
* Support continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies or process enhancements.
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards, practice procedures, and HMRC requirements.
* Keep up to date with relevant tax and accounting changes.

Qualifications & Skills
* AAT qualified or part‑qualified, or ACCA/ACA part‑qualified/qualified.
* Experience in practice is beneficial but not essential for the right candidate.
* Competent using cloud‑based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and follow established processes.
