14 Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship
Are you our next apprentice administration hero? Could you help us provide great patient‑friendly service and secretarial support? If so, you could start off your career supporting the admin team within the Diabetes & Endocrinology department, working whilst studying for an apprenticeship.
This exciting post will allow the successful candidate to gain experience and knowledge in a wide range of activities. The post holder will assist with typing, booking patient appointments, and administration tasks which will include dealing with telephone enquiries, filing and general office duties, in order to ensure our clinics run smoothly.
Your time will be split between our admin teams in Diabetes, Endocrinology and the Clinical Investigation Unit. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care.
Main Duties
* Provide high‑quality secretarial support to the department.
* Split time between several areas within the department, working with different staff groups.
* Communicate confidently with service users over the telephone and face‑to‑face.
* Handle patient information on a daily basis, maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
* Perform good data entry and IT tasks.
* Prioritise workload and work on the departmental database systems.
* Work as a team player and uphold the Trust's PRIDE values.
* Undertake a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, to be completed within a 14‑month contract.

Eligibility Criteria
* Aged 16+
* Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
* Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above
* Must not be in any form of formal government‑funded education upon the start of the apprenticeship
Qualifications & Skills Required
* Good general standard of education
* 4 GCSEs at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent), subject to the job specification
* Good standard of literacy and numeracy
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Good IT skills
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* 4 GCSEs at C/3 or above (ideally to include Maths and English)
* Undertake and Successfully complete the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard within a 14‑month contract
Experience (Desirable)
* Previous experience in NHS or Customer Service
Skills (Essential)
* Excellent Communication & Organisational Skills
* Good IT Skills (Microsoft Office & PAS)
* Ability to work well in a team, but also use own initiative & work independently
