Job Overview

The Conservation Team plays a key role in protecting and enhancing biodiversity across the Park. They advise colleagues on protected species legislation, habitat management and ecological best practice, working closely with Rangers, Property and Planning teams, and leisure venues to deliver the Authority’s biodiversity duty. The team is currently made up of a Conservation Manager and a Conservation Officer, and this new role will strengthen their capacity to support conservation initiatives and deliver the Lee Valley Biodiversity Action Plan.


About Lee Valley Regional Park

Lee Valley Regional Park stretches an incredible 26 miles along the banks of the River Lee, providing a unique natural corridor on London’s doorstep. The park contains a variety of landscapes and open spaces, including internationally important wetland sites that form the Lee Valley Special Protection Area and Ramsar site, sites of special scientific interest, industrial heritage sites, nature reserves and leisure venues.


Key Responsibilities

* Support Conservation managers and external partners.
* Deliver capital and grant‑funded conservation projects.
* Manage and analyse ecological data, and oversee the ecological data systems.
* Expand the public events and engagement programme, assist the Lee Valley Biodiversity Action Plan and coordinate dedicated wildlife survey volunteers.
* Play a part in raising public awareness through events and initiatives.


Qualifications

* Proven experience in the conservation sector.
* A recognised post‑A level qualification (e.g. HND, NVQ level 3, degree or equivalent in countryside management or a related discipline).
* Good working knowledge of conservation, habitat management and wildlife legislation.
* Experience working with volunteers and local groups.
* Full manual driving licence.
* Successful applicants will be required to obtain a Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure Barring Service.


Salary and Benefits

£33,835 – £38,661 per annum, plus flexible benefits. Two‑year fixed term – 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
