Are you passionate about transforming young lives through expert psychiatric care? Join Rhodes Wood Hospital, a supportive and experienced team as a Medical Lead within our Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CYPMHS), providing specialist care for young people aged 12 to 18 with eating disorders. You will work in a service that delivers evidence-based, individualized treatment programmes designed to meet each young person's unique needs, and as our Medical Lead, you will play a central role in driving clinical excellence and ensuring the service continues to deliver safe, effective, compassionate care.


Responsibilities

* Provide strategic leadership, ensuring consistent, high-quality standards of care and fidelity to our clinical model.
* Champion a positive, recovery-focused and trauma-informed culture, influencing practice across the unit.
* Represent the medical team at governance meetings, service development discussions, and external stakeholder forums.
* Oversee medical input into audits, QI projects and service evaluations, ensuring learning and improvement are embedded in everyday practice.
* Offer professional leadership, supervision, and support to Consultant Psychiatrists and Associate Specialists within the service.
* Coordinate medical cover, ensuring safe, effective clinical staffing across the unit.
* Lead medical workforce processes, including recruitment, induction and appraisal.
* As a CYPMHS Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be required to:
o Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission
o Conduct Admission assessment and ensure effective management plans
o Participate in the assessment and management of children and young people referred to the Service
o Conduct risk assessment and review regularly
o Assess physical health
o Provide leadership, supervision, reflection, and risk management to the key workers on the team
o Abide by, and contribute to, the governance arrangements and processes of the service, providing culturally competent practice, appropriate record keeping, and discharging duties under the safeguarding children agenda
o Supervise non-training grade doctors and psychiatric trainees allocated to the teams
o Enact cross cover arrangements for annual, study and professional leave, with the other child and adolescent psychiatrists in the department
o Participate in the CYPMHS Consultant on-call duty rota
o Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
o Have an interest in research and a willingness to supervise trainees will be encouraged
o Establish effective working relationships with GPs, CYPMHS community teams, specialists and commissioners
o Uphold the principles of Clinical Governance and adhere to the organisation's clinical governance requirements
o Take part in an Annual Appraisal Programme, developing Personal Development Plans focused on Continuing Professional Development
o Adhere to all the organisations policies and procedures


Qualifications

* Registered on the GMC Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a licence to practise.
* Experience of CYPMHS Eating Disorders
