Job Purpose:
As a School Sport & Community Development Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging and impactful sports programmes across local schools and the wider community on behalf of the Featherstone Rovers Foundation.
In this dynamic, hands-on role, you'll act as a key link between the Foundation and schools—leading the planning and delivery of high-quality sport and physical activity sessions that inspire children to lead healthy, active lives. Your sessions will be inclusive, exciting, and designed to build confidence, encourage participation, and promote long-term wellbeing.
You'll be a positive role model and frontline ambassador for the Foundation, bringing its values to life in every school hall, playground, and community space. Through sport, you'll help shape lives, unite communities, and create meaningful opportunities for young people to grow and thrive.
Beyond schools, you'll support the planning, organisation, and direct delivery of our wider community development initiatives. You'll work closely with local partners, groups, and families to build strong relationships and ensure our programmes respond to the needs of the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
* Delivery and growth of Featherstone Rovers Foundation's School Sport Packages across primary and secondary schools.
* Lead the planning and delivery of engaging PE and extracurricular sessions.
* Organise and support inter-school competitions, sports days, and community events.
* Work alongside school staff to enhance the quality and variety of sport offered in the curriculum.
* Monitor, track, and report on student participation and engagement.
* Ensure all school sport activities are safeguarding-compliant and meet health and safety standards.
* Support the growth and sustainability of local community sports clubs through volunteer support, participant recruitment, and access to training and development opportunities.
* Delivery on our inclusive holiday camps and after-school programmes aimed at engaging children and young people in positive, healthy activities.
* Delivery on our youth clubs and targeted outreach projects that promote social inclusion, personal development, and wellbeing.
* Plan, coordinate, and evaluate community festivals and engagement events for primary and secondary school students, fostering stronger links between schools and the wider community.
* Organise and lead themed events, matchday activities, and promotional campaigns to raise awareness of and increase engagement with Featherstone Rovers Foundation programmes.
Key Skills and Attributes
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
* Confident working with children, young people, and diverse community groups.
* Proven ability in the delivery of sports coaching in schools and/or clubs.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Understanding of the role of PE and sport within the school curriculum.
* Energetic, motivated, and able to inspire participation across all age groups.
* Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate participation data and reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
* Proven experience in delivering school or community sports programmes.
* Valid First Aid and Safeguarding Children certification.
* Minimum Level 2 Coaching Qualification.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
* Degree or diploma in Sports Development, PE, or Community Sport.
Working Hours:
Full-time position, including evening and weekend work as and when required.
