The UHDB (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton) Community Hospital team is pleased to offer an exciting position for a flexible and driven individual to work within Physiotherapy in the discharge and rehabilitation pathways.
Main duties
The team is looking for a motivated, organised Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner to support patient care in an inpatient environment. They must show the ability to be flexible within their working day and show initiative with their caseload, being mindful of the wider team\'s needs and workload.
Proven team skills are essential for this role as is the ability to work independently. A desire to help people in their hospital journey and recovery is essential whilst ensuring that patients are motivated and safely discharged to their previous place of residence is a key part of this role.
Basic IT skills are desirable for administration duties. Recent experience of working in an inpatient care setting and the moving and handling of adults is essential. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required along with the ability to motivate and encourage patients with physical needs.

Person Specification
Education Essential: NVQ Level III or equivalent qualification in Health & Social Care. Desirable: Evidence of relevant course attended.
Experience Essential: Previous experience as a Therapy Assistant (preferably within Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy); Evidence of working with rehab patients - inpatients; Evidence of working independently. Desirable: Evidence of working across a 7 day service; Evidence of working in an NHS hospital (acute or community) setting.
Communication Essential: Evidence to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication; Evidence of communicating difficult decisions with patients and families.
