Volunteer Role: Civilian Committee Member - Air Training Corps

Civilian Committees help with the running of the Air Training Corps (ATC) from squadron level through to representation at National Level. Each squadron has a committee made up of parents and friends, assisting the squadron’s Commanding Officer in operations, fundraising, approving spending, and maintaining direction.

Committees meet approximately once a quarter, usually lasting around an hour, either in person at the squadron or via Teams video call, under the guidance of a Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer. Most committees are happy to accept volunteers even if they cannot commit to regular or long-term assistance.

As a committee member, you will be involved in managing non-public funds, advising on welfare issues for cadets and staff, representing the squadron's views at higher levels, and fostering the unit's profile in the community. This role is not onerous but is very important for the success of the squadron.

Experience required

No specific qualifications are required. We seek adult volunteers who care about helping young people in a distinguished cadet service. All volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and work as part of a team of like-minded individuals.

We are looking for committee members who are representative of the local community and will be valued additions to our team.

Location

All Volunteer Air Cadet Instructors work directly with young people at the squadron located at Barkhill Road, Linlithgow, EH49 6BY.

Support & Restrictions

Support details and any restrictions will be provided upon application.

Availability & Commitment

Meetings are held four times a year, each lasting around an hour. Attendance can be in person or via Teams video call, offering flexibility for volunteers.
