Hours: up to 4 hours per week. * WEDNESDAY LATE AFTERNOONS*
We have multiple centres across Surrey and we are seeking people who are passionate about the personal, educational, creative and social development of young people and helping them reach their full potential.
You will be part of a supportive environment, where they help young people discover exciting new ideas and activities, laugh, learn, experiment and be themselves, all in a safe environment. Our youth clubs work with ages and have a vast network of organisations we work alongside to provide activities and opportunities for the young people within each community.
Key responsibilities
· To deliver a programme of activities for those people within the youth club. Each club requires activity planning and budget management.
· To ensure the safeguarding of children, young people and other adults participating in the activity programme.
· To manage a small team of paid staff and volunteers in order for the efficient running of the club.
· To develop trusting and friendly relationships with individual young people, other agencies and where appropriate parents.
· To advise the organisation of any concerns relating to young people participating in the programme.
· To attend team meetings and liaise with other agencies and professionals.
· To complete relevant paperwork such as session plans, debriefs, budgets and feedback from the young people
Requirements of lead Session Worker:
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
· At least 2 years relevant experience working directly with young people aged 11 – 16.
· Evidenced experience of running activities for young people
· Evidenced experience of managing staff or resources.
· An enhanced DBS. (We will provide)
Preferable
· A youth work qualification at level 2 or 3
· Though not essential it would be beneficial if you can drive due to the locations of the centres.
· First aid training.
Skills and aptitudes
Essential
· Ability to plan sessions with young people and others.
· Ability to complete written reports which are clear and concise.
· Management of a team of adults to facilitate the youth work.
· Ability to work alone, part of a team and to follow procedures.
· Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish rapport with children and young people and their parents/guardians.
· good organisational and administration skills.
