This is a 14-month secondment opportunity for the post holder to provide clinical leadership on Melly Ward, ensuring effective monitoring and implementation of standards and evidence-based practice, and ensuring patients receive safe, high-quality care.
The post holder will manage and facilitate learning within the nursing team, effectively manage resources, and drive improvements based on evidence-based practice. They will respond to, identify, escalate, and recommend changes within the clinical environment.
Main duties of the job
* Take responsibility for clinical leadership and direction of the nursing team.
* Conduct and document comprehensive, systematic, and accurate nursing assessments.
* Promote and deliver high standards of nursing care based on best practices to ensure patient safety and a positive patient experience.
* Create opportunities to promote health and well-being of patients.
* Undertake clinical shifts.
* Work within NMC Guidelines and Trust Policies, recognizing personal abilities and limitations.
* Facilitate team working between nurses and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of care.
* Participate in clinical audits to monitor and improve care standards.
* Ensure effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and maintain confidentiality of patients, relatives, and colleagues.

* Assist the Head of Nursing/Matron in reviewing staffing requirements, focusing on retention and recruitment.
* Support the Head of Nursing/Matron in implementing improvements systematically.
* Ensure adequate staffing levels for safe and effective care, optimizing available resources through competent duty rostering.
* Create a collaborative environment for partnership working and information sharing across multidisciplinary teams.
* Manage financial resources for the clinical area.
* Lead investigations into complaints and clinical incidents, ensuring lessons are shared.
* Deputize for the Matron as needed.
* Maintain accurate and updated information systems for the ward/department.
