A Superb and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band ; Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse post within the Specialist Surgery Inpatient Ward at the John Radcliffe hospital.
Main duties of the job Deputise for the ward manager in her absence across the full range of management responsibilities · Contribute significantly toward the strategic and operational development of the ward / department · Assist the ward manager with the recruitment, interviewing and selection of staff · Promote effective communication and teamwork at all levels · Demonstrate clinical leadership skills and evidence of specialist knowledge · Develop, manage and monitor the performance of a team of nurses, ensuring that the highest standards of care and safety are achieved and maintained at all times
Demonstrate excellent skills in patient assessment and care planning to ensure care is individualized to each patient.
. Deliver a patient centred style of practice that reflects and promotes the beliefs and values of professional nursing practice and patient care outlined in the ward philosophy.
. Deliver expert clinical care to a named group of patients on a daily basis and have ongoing responsibilities for them.
. Set and maintain standards of practice, conduct or decision making in conjunction with ward manager
. Develop specialist policies and protocols for the area
. Ensure accurate documentation and reporting by all members of the nursing team regarding the care given to patients and changes in their condition
. Promote effective communication and liaison with other healthcare professionals with ongoing responsibility for patient care.
