Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Emergency Quadrant Ward Clerk to join the Emergency Care Directorate’s Administration Team at Ysbty Glan Clwyd.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and visitors to the Acute Assessment Unit, and must demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner and maintain confidentiality at all times.
A good standard of education is required, previous experience of working in an administrative / customer service setting, and excellent communication skills. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and be efficient and organized with your workload.
You will join a friendly team providing reception and administrative duties to assist the smooth running of the Acute Assessment Unit. Support cover in other areas of the Emergency Quadrant may also be required.
Previous ward clerk experience and knowledge of the Welsh Patient Administration System (WPAS) is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The Ward Clerk will provide efficient clerical assistance to the Emergency Quadrant, ensuring the speedy admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
The role requires maintaining strict confidentiality and dealing with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.
The Ward Clerk is responsible to the Ward Managers for providing an efficient clerical service across the Emergency Quadrant and is under the direct responsibility of the Administration Manager for accountability and development.
Fluency in Welsh is essential for this role.
