Company Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Intermediate MEP Cost Manager to join our busy Real Estate team in Cambridge. You will play a key role in supporting a longstanding, high-profile account.
Job Description
1. Lead on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) deliverables within larger projects or manage direct MEP commissions, such as asset upgrade works.
2. Establish early budgets, provide early estimating, and develop cost plans.
3. Manage design teams to budget, oversee tendering and procurement (single and two-stage), and deliver post-contract reporting.
4. Mentor Assistant Cost Managers and Cost Managers within the MEP team.
5. Collaborate with contractors and MEP supply chains, ensuring robust and effective relationships.
6. Support the development of MEP digital systems and tools, and promote best practices within the business and wider MEP community.
Qualifications
7. A proven track record of delivering high quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle
8. Professionally qualified (RICS or similar) or working towards
9. Degree or HNC level qualification
10. Ability to level and negotiate initial tender returns and issue recommendations
11. Experience running change control processes, including cost negotiations
12. Reviewing payment applications and preparing recommendations
13. Managing final account reconciliations
14. Reviewing and validating cost build-ups and rate analysis
15. Capability to undertake basic counts using Cost X
16. Proactive in engaging with contractors and clients when required
17. Ability to perform benchmarking using available data
18. Updating and tracking the Client Workbook, which records all submitted change orders
19. Willingness to take on detailed, process-driven tasks to support the client’s objectives when required
