We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Manager to become a key player in our Scotland business!

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Design Manager, you will lead the charge on a remarkable £100M+ healthcare new build facility. Your expertise and guidance will be crucial in driving the success of the project from the second stage through to delivery. Here’s what your day-to-day will look like:
* Manage and deliver design information in line with the agreed design programme and deliverable schedule for a large healthcare project.
* Ensure our appointed design consultants meet their obligations, assessing their work for compliance and addressing any performance issues.
* Oversee design management during both preconstruction and construction stages.
* Identify, mitigate, and manage design-related risks while ensuring external consultants perform against the design programme and quality standards.
* Chair design meetings, prepare reports, and provide updates to the Senior Leadership Team on design progress.
* Produce design programmes, scopes, responsibility matrices, appointments, and schedules.
* Provide subject matter expertise in healthcare building design.
* Offer strategic insights to keep Kier at the forefront of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and deliver effective technical solutions to clients.
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for you if you can showcase:
* A relevant qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture.
* Evidence of professional development through chartership or additional accreditation.
* Demonstrable experience in a design role within a main contracting environment.
* Extensive experience with tenders, second-stage bids, and live projects of significant size and complexity.
* A solid understanding of design management considerations specific to healthcare projects, including knowledge of NHS Scotland processes.
* Experience with BIM Level 2 projects, including COBie data and Levels of Development (LoDM).
* Up-to-date knowledge of current building regulations and their influence on design.
* An understanding of key design principles, including M&E design parameters, fire, and acoustic requirements.
* Familiarity with Building Contracts (NEC, JCT, SBCC, etc.) and their impact on design management.
