Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor (Social Housing)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 + company car / fuel / benefits package
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Overview: VANRATH is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work within the Building Maintenance department for a large construction company in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The role involves leading all commercial, financial, and contractual aspects of multiple projects, focusing on maximizing profitability, ensuring legal and contractual compliance, and managing commercial issues. Responsibilities include overseeing applications and valuations, ensuring prompt payments, and guiding the commercial strategy to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Project Financial Management: Manage project budgets, forecasts, financial reports, cost control, and cash collection. Provide strategic insights to maximize profitability.
2. Contract Administration: Lead contract administration, including negotiations and variations, ensuring obligations are met and risks minimized.
3. Procurement and Tendering: Oversee procurement, evaluate bids, and select subcontractors, ensuring value and strategy alignment.
4. Cost Valuation and Reporting: Conduct valuations, manage payments, and prepare final accounts. Ensure accurate financial reporting and identify risks and opportunities.
5. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and contractual risks to safeguard the company's interests.
The Ideal Person:
* Degree qualified or relevant qualifications
* Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor
* Proven track record in senior roles with high-value projects
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and practices
* Advanced proficiency in contract law, regulations, and safety
* Excellent commercial, negotiation, and communication skills
* Social Housing or maintenance experience preferred
* Good IT skills and ability to work under pressure
