About the role
An Elderly Mental Health Liaison Nurse based at Ailsa Hospital. Permanent position. Work 36 hours per week.
UK driving licence is essential.
Responsibilities
* Provide person‑centred care and support for older adults with dementia and other mental health problems in a general hospital setting.
* Deliver comprehensive mental health assessment, expert nursing advice, information and guidance to hospital staff, patients and carers.
* Work independently, with supervision, and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Support staff and family members to understand and manage mental health needs of elderly patients.
* Contribute to the development of service protocols and education programmes.
* Participate in quality improvement and audit activities.
* Provide individualized personal development opportunities for the team.
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse, Part 3 of the NMC Register.
* Degree level education or a relevant postgraduate qualification.
* Desirable: mental‑health assessment skills for older adults.
* Motivation to develop knowledge and skills within a liaison setting.
* Passion for working in the elderly mental‑health setting.
Additional Requirements
* UK driving licence required.
* Right to work in the United Kingdom or be eligible for sponsorship before applying.
* NHS Ayrshire & Arran may offer sponsorship for certain posts, subject to salary thresholds and other criteria.
* Sponsorship is not available for Band 2 posts or bank contracts.
