Job Summary
Powys Teaching Health Board’s Community Dental Service is seeking to appoint a Senior Dental Officer to a salaried General Dental Practitioner (GDP) position from April 2026. The base location will be confirmed but is expected to be in the Llandrindod Wells/Mid Wales area. This is a full‑time (37.5 hours per week) role, although part‑time may be considered. The role requires the ability to travel across sites. Applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) and hold the appropriate qualifications for the post.
Main Duties
The postholder will provide general dental services and a full range of level 1 complexity procedures, managing patients with urgent dental problems and maintaining case loads within the Community Dental Service. The role supports the Associate Dental Director and Assistant Clinical Director in delivering managed care services and will have access to modern equipment and materials.

Job Responsibilities
* Full general dental services at level 1 complexity
* Management of urgent dental problems and caseloads

Person Specification – Essential
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Appropriate graduate qualification or equivalent in Dentistry and relevant postgraduate dental qualification
* Full registration with the GDC
* Competent clinician capable of all level 1 procedures
* Knowledge of dental surgery techniques, materials and confidentiality principles
* Ability to work independently and on team
* GDS experience and eligibility for performer number
Person Specification – Desirable
* Experience in multi‑disciplinary settings, MOS, or teaching
* Mobile dental unit and domiciliary experience
Technical Skills – Essential
* Professional standards maintenance
* General Dental Services knowledge, NHS rules and FP17/W form usage
* Understanding of Contract Reform and principles in Wales
Technical Skills – Desirable
* Analytical skills and IT proficiency
* Knowledge of Welsh NHS policies and health system
Additional Skills
* Methodical with attention to detail
* Calm under pressure
* Willingness to undertake further training and development
* Travel within and outside Powys as required
