Overview
We are looking for a multi skilled assistant to work as part of our logistics team, supporting all areas of the business in their operational goals and objectives. You will be required to operate a wide range of equipment within the factory, ensuring material availability, waste management and provide general assistance in other areas as required. This is a shift based role working triple shifts (earlies, late shift and nights).
Responsibilities
* Provide assistance that may reasonably be requested by chargehands and managers throughout the site, including delivery and collection of materials, receipt, stock counting, booking-in and despatch of goods and materials, ensuring a clean, tidy and safe working environment, and assisting on machines and the running of auxiliary equipment.
* Perform inspections of machinery and equipment before use to ensure efficient operation and production.
* Operate auxiliary equipment.
* Provide specific press support functions, for example plates and blanket changes, washing up and make ready assistance in line with departmental chargehands or press operators' instructions.
* Ensure all components are ready and available to commence job make ready.
* Ensure all presses have adequate supplies of chemicals, cleaners and rags, etc.
* Ensure ink and chemical store is kept clean and tidy.
* Notify management if any stocks have to be replenished.
* To assist on machinery within all production areas.
* In the event of a resource conflict obtain instruction from departmental chargehands on work priorities.
* Ensure all finished goods are correctly packaged and wrapped for client delivery.
* To maintain a clean, safe factory, carrying out a range of tasks that help the factory run smoothly.
* To ensure adequate stock of all raw materials are available at machine for continuity of production.
* To support all production by replenishing stocks and reacting to urgent requests for raw materials.
* Provide support to goods-in to ensure all goods are receipted, checked, located and booked-in.
* Move goods into despatch and prepare for shipping; load onto carriers as and when required.
* Check material requirements against docket and inform purchasing of stock replenishment.
Requirements
* To maintain a clean safe factory, carrying out a range of tasks that help the factory run smoothly.
* To support all production by replenishing stocks and reacting to urgent requests for raw materials.
* To drive all company vehicles, including forklift and aisle trucks.
* Previous experience of working in a warehouse environment is desirable.
* Travel to offsite locations in company vehicles for delivery, collections and waste management purposes.
* Cover colleagues' holidays and sickness where necessary by agreement with your line manager.
* To work both indoors and outdoors in all weather.
