About the Job
Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Safety Engineer into the System Safety and Environmental Engineering Team, to support the sustainment of safety for Boeing’s products and services critical to UK defence.
As a Senior Safety Engineer, you will perform safety engineering and safety management activities in support of the Apache AH-64E aircraft, and maintenance and training services provided by BDUK to the UK MOD.
Responsibilities
* Conduct system safety analysis through the application of appropriate regulatory requirements, legislation, tools and techniques.
* Interface and liaise with systems engineers, specialty engineering functions, customers and suppliers throughout the development lifecycle regarding safety.
* Perform hazard analysis to define safety requirements and detailed systems analysis, to demonstrate that safety requirements can be met.
* Develop safety arguments and draft safety cases to support assurance and certification activities, including identification of appropriate evidence to show safety arguments are reasonable, well‑constructed and justified.
* Identify and create evidence to support assurance of equipment and services, using safety‑related activities to support the traceability of safety requirements, to implementation and operation.
* Occasional UK and International travel may be required.
* Flexible working arrangements can be agreed.
Basic Skills and Qualifications
* A background in safety engineering gained in a safety‑critical sector or regulated environment (e.g. aerospace, defence, automotive, rail, maritime).
* Sound knowledge of common safety standards (e.g. Def Stan 00‑056, MIL‑STD‑882E, ARP 4761).
* Demonstrable experience producing safety assessment reports and other artefacts through the application of safety assessment techniques (e.g. Fault Tree Analysis, Bowtie analysis).
* Demonstrable experience of applying safety and risk engineering processes to identify hazards and vulnerabilities, assess risk and implement controls to reduce risk to an acceptable level (e.g. FHA, SSA, CCA).
* Knowledge and experience of developing safety arguments and safety cases, including the use of Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument Evidence (CAE).
* Ability to build effective and strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
* Candidate must be a UK National and able to attain SC clearance.
Essential to be able to obtain UK SC security clearance.

This role is onsite with flexible working hours.
