About The Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Engineer to join a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist equipment based in Ilfracombe, North Devon. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a quality professional to take a significant step forward in their career, with a clear pathway to a quality management position within two years. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining and improving quality standards across the organization, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001. The role requires a proactive individual who thrives in a quality‑driven environment, possesses strong analytical skills, and is eager to lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in quality engineering, with previous experience in similar roles. A degree qualification or Level 6 in Quality Assurance is essential, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of quality management principles. Internal auditor qualification is required, with additional Six Sigma certification considered a distinct advantage. Strong problem‑solving skills, analytical capabilities, and experience in using quality tools and techniques are crucial. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously within a cross‑functional team environment.
Responsibilities
As a Quality Engineer, your core responsibilities will include managing all aspects of the quality management system, particularly compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards. You will oversee the maintenance and continual improvement of the QMS, ensuring that all processes meet stringent quality criteria. Managing PPAP submissions will be a key aspect of your role, requiring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to customer requirements. You will lead initiatives to assess and improve quality performance across various projects and processes, utilizing problem‑solving techniques to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Additionally, you will promote a "right first time" culture within the organization, fostering a mindset of quality excellence and continuous improvement. Collaboration with cross‑functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive process enhancements will be integral to your success.
