Job Overview
As Education and Community Engagement Manager North Essex, you will lead our team of education staff in the North of the county, overseeing the Wilder Learning provision and ensuring our community work reaches wider audiences.
The Head of Education and Community Engagement guides the Trust’s efforts to inspire communities across Essex. This role involves strategic oversight of the Education Team (Wilder Learning), Community Team (Team Wilder), and Local Groups, ensuring impactful educational and engagement initiatives aligned with the Trust’s Strategic Plan. Our vision is to foster a lifelong love of nature and engage one in four people by 2030.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement strategies to expand education and community engagement, creating inspiring projects and approaches.
2. Provide strategic oversight of educational programming, ensuring excellence and evolution.
3. Support community-led conservation projects, promoting social action as a conservation tool.
4. Oversee Local Groups, fostering alignment and involvement.
5. Build relationships with community leaders, corporate members, and stakeholders to mobilize action for wildlife.
6. Position the Trust as an authority on engagement and nature connectedness.
7. Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration and establish key performance indicators.
8. Represent the Trust publicly, inspiring conservation through campaigns and media.
9. Support team development, oversee budgets, and ensure policy adherence.
10. Act as Deputy Safeguarding Lead and ensure compliance.
11. Collaborate with central teams and other department heads to ensure cohesive leadership.
Additional Details
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working options. The starting salary is £43,050 per year, based at Abbotts Hall, with hybrid working arrangements.
