Job Description

Are you passionate about working with young people? Do you strive to make a difference?

We have an exciting opportunity for people to apply for casual roles as a Youth Worker at our Youth Hubs across East Sussex.

What is a Youth Worker? As Youth Workers, we nurture and support the young people we work with so they can learn to make informed choices; we teach empowerment and equality, helping the young people have a voice, build positive relationships, and reach their full potential. As a Youth Worker, you will support the Leader in Charge in the operation and running of the session, engaging young people in the community, offering support, advice, and guidance, as well as handling any safeguarding concerns as a team. Join us in supporting young people as they navigate the challenges and changes of society and themselves while transitioning from childhood to adulthood.

Successful applicants will receive a full induction and training to support all aspects of their roles with ongoing support from their manager and colleagues. Starting as a youth worker can pave the way for opportunities within keywork and social work.

We deliver sessions for young people aged 8 to 19 (up to 25 years for young people with SEN).

Responsibilities

* Detached/Outreach is our on-the-street sessions; we visit young people where they are, ensuring their voice is heard, providing activities, and signposting them to local youth clubs and services.
* Funky Teens is an SEN-inclusive group for young people with mild to moderate learning needs, aiming to develop their social and life skills.
* Drop-in Youth Activity Sessions are open-mixed groups where young people can socialise and develop life skills through positive activities.
* LGBTQ+ groups are safe spaces for young people to explore their identity and receive support and advice.
* Juniors sessions are open-mixed groups where young people can socialise and develop their life skills through fun activities.

Sessions usually run in the afternoon and evening unless specified otherwise.

What we are looking for

* Interpersonal skills with the ability to be sensitive to the needs of young people and relate to them at a meaningful level
* Ability to design and deliver activities with and for young people
* Ability to plan and deliver specific projects to engage young people

In Return, We Offer

* Access to wider training and development qualifications
* A great team to work with
* An opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people
