Temporary Finance Manager (3–6 Months) – Teesside AreaImmediate Start Required
Hays are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to join a well-established organisation based in the Teesside area on a temporary basis to provide cover during a period of sickness. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive finance professional to step into a key leadership role and make an immediate impact.
The RoleReporting directly to the Financial Director, you will take responsibility for overseeing day-to-day finance operations while ensuring robust financial control and reporting. You will also play a key role in supporting ongoing finance projects and driving improvements within the function.The assignment is expected to last 3–6 months, with the potential for extension depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage a team of 4 finance staff, providing guidance, support, and performance oversight
2. Take ownership of the monthly management accounts process, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
3. Oversee budgetary control, monitoring performance against budgets and providing insightful variance analysis
4. Prepare and maintain cashflow forecasts, ensuring the business maintains a strong liquidity position
5. Conduct detailed payment and expenditure analysis, identifying trends and opportunities for cost control
6. Work closely with the Financial Director to support strategic decision-making
7. Assist with ongoing finance projects, including process improvements and system enhancements
8. Ensurepliance with internal controls, policies, and relevant financial regulations
Candidate Profile
Hays are looking for a confident and capable finance professional who can quickly integrate into the business and provide strong leadership.Essential:
9. Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar role
10. Strong background in management accounting and financial reporting
11. Experience of budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
12. Demonstrable experience managing or supervising a team
13. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
14. Strongmunication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with senior stakeholders
Preferred:
15. Professional finance qualification ( ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience
16. Experience working in a fast-paced or changing environment
