Prinicipal Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist

Are you an experienced Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist passionate about leading on the delivery of high quality mental health care? Become part of our dedicated team at Parkview Clinic, a newly refurbished regional inpatient CAMHS facility in Moseley (Birmingham), surrounded by a serene woodland walk.

Rated 'Good' by CQC (2024), Parkview comprises three units for young people aged 11-17. Ashfield: an 8-bed general adolescent unit with seclusion facility. Heathlands: a 14-bed general adolescent unit for various mental health difficulties. Irwin: a 12-bed specialist eating disorder service. You will collaborate strategically, operationally and clinically with a multidisciplinary leadership team and a clinical MDT comprising doctors, family therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, social workers, and support staff.

We have an 8B position requiring strategic, operational and clinical expertise to achieve the service vision and ambitions. The post-holder will be a senior leader in the service as well as providing clinical leadership for psychological input to Heathlands. The role can be taken full time or part-time.

Main duties of the job

Your role responsibilities...

Supporting the Head of Psychological Therapies to provide effectivepsychologically informedclinical leadership and the deliveryand developmentof evidence-based psychological therapies at the Regional Inpatient CAMHS unit., in a trauma informed, anti-racism, autism-acceptance, recovery culture.

Line manage and supervise clinical staff.

Be the Lead Psychologist for a designated ward responsible forthe delivery and organisation of psychological provision; clinical and non-clinical.

Work within the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Consult Team (training to Consult level will be provided as part of this role).

Across service leadership, contributing to clinical governance,the evaluation of outcomes for children and families, and supporting meaningful service improvements aligned with national and regional priorities.

Providepost-incident team reflections, reflective practice, supervision,trainingand ward learning forums.

Our working hours are 37.5, Monday to Friday.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Experienced Qualified Clinical/Forensic Psychologist eligible for chartered status
* HCPC registered with Doctorate in Clinical/Forensic Psychology
* Highly specialist skills in meeting the needs of children, adolescents and young adults with highly complex mental health needs
* Post qualification training leading to highly developed specialist knowledge of issues relevant to population eg DBT, EMDR,
* Risk management training for those with highly complex mental health problems


Knowledge & Nature of Experience

* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology or two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* Highly developed knowledge across relevant clinical areas e.g. working with personality difficulties and complex risk of harms, complex neurodiverse presentations cooccurring with mental health difficulties.
* Significant experience of providing clinical supervision and consultation, with psychologists and other professional groups.
* Experience of contributing to planning and evaluation of services and innovation and improvement
* Well organised and an effective team player
* Experience of teaching, training, staff support, research
* Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
* Significant experience of assessing and treating children, young people and/or young adults with complex mental health needs
* Significant experience of assessing and managing risk clients that involves judgements involving highly complex facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options


Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge

* Well-motivated to be part of Inpatient CAMHS. Enthusiasm for working with this client group and their families.
* Skills and knowledge of using NHS systems, such as RIO, Microsoft office for use with audits, research and presentations to wider audiences


Other Requirements

* Able to work in dynamic fast paced environment
