We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager in our Beer & Cider team at Booker, based at any of our Support Centres in Wellingborough, Watford, or Eccles.
The role involves maximizing profitability of specific product categories, enhancing customer satisfaction, and increasing cash profit.

About the role
* Develop and implement category plans to meet sales, margin, and profit targets while ensuring product availability.
* Grow the own brand business by sourcing products to increase sales and margins.
* Negotiate annually with suppliers for competitive terms.
* Gather and respond to customer feedback to shape category strategies, linking to sales plans and satisfaction.
* Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and promptly.
* Communicate category plans clearly to ensure understanding and buy-in.
* Ensure product displays reflect good, better, and best principles.
* Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities and improve processes.
* Lead the category team, manage performance, and develop succession plans, supporting Booker’s values of inclusion and growth.
* Adhere to our Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity, promoting diversity and inclusion.
Minimum requirements
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make commercial decisions.
* Strong attention to detail, report writing, data interpretation, and record-keeping skills.
* Knowledge of relevant markets and industry developments.
* Flexible work approach.
Experience needed
* Extensive experience in FMG and buying teams.
* Proven ability to work autonomously.
* Experience in developing and managing marketing campaigns.
