MM Search are delighted to be retained by International Fish Canners to appoint their next Head of Human Resources.
IFC Holdings comprises of International Fish Canners, Nor-Sea Foods, Nolan Seafoods, D&G Nolan and J Charles Seafoods. IFC operates out of 2 sites in the North-East of Scotland (Aberdeen City and Fraserburgh); producing a variety of seafood products including Mackerel, Sardines, Herring, Whitefish and Salmon for a range of UK and international customers. Their customers are the majority of major supermarkets.
This role will be part of the IFC leadership team.
Location: Aberdeen or Fraserburgh
Direct reports: 2 HR Administrators (1 Fraserburgh, 1 Aberdeen) + 2 Payroll Administrators.
Key Activities:
* Lead, manage and develop the Human Resources and Payroll function across multiple sites (Aberdeen and Fraserburgh)
* Coach leadership in Human Resources Best Practice
* Build and maintain relationships with key managers to develop HR solutions to business challenges and improve employee engagement
* Manage and develop performance management processes and ensure production assessment systems are maintained to enable the business to identify and recruit highest performing agency staff
* Manage the annual salary review process
* Ensure benefits are reviewed annually and starters and leavers are updated
* Develop a succession plan for key leadership positions and manage the development of key talent
* Manage recruitment processes for professionals and production operatives. Key objectives are to improve hiring practices, reduce turnover and develop our relationships with agencies
* Manage and develop onboarding practices to maximise employee engagement and minimise turnover
* Work with managers to develop changes to working practices to support business objectives
* Training and Development – ensure compliance training is rolled out appropriately and records of completion are maintained e.g. anti- corruption, bullying and harassment etc.
* Develop training programmes to support the development of leadership skills within the business
* Ensure the group’s employment practices are compliant with employment legislation and SEDEX audits
* Ensure HR reports are produced, accurate and inform business decision making
* Develop specific activities to improve employee engagement
* Work with Production Managers and Supervisors to control absence levels
* Manage all aspects of Employee Relations for example disciplinaries and grievances.
* Ensure HR systems are accurately maintained
* Ensure compliance with GDPR, Right to Work legislation, immigration and visa requirements.
Experience Required:
* Previous experience in leading and developing an HR function
* Commercial awareness to enable the development of business orientated HR solutions
* People management and communication skills.
* Strong broad generalist HR skills including managing payroll.
* Manufacturing experience
* Resilience to drive agreed solutions to implementation
* Experience of improving HR operations
* Data analysis and HR system management experience
* Creativity to develop solutions to business challenges
* Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
