About the role
SZC is owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG, through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. The shareholders' investments will evolve during the project.
The shareholders will fund SZC until Financial Close via equity, following the approved schedule and budget. SZC's purpose is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure (including activities related to hydrogen, direct air capture, and desalination) at Sizewell C in Suffolk. The current development phase aims to finalize the Capital Raise Plan, including completing equity and debt raises, securing core supply chain contracts, and obtaining necessary permits and licenses for construction, including environmental permits and nuclear site license.
Previously, SZC operated as part of EDF's Nuclear Development business unit, staffed by EDF colleagues and contractors now transitioning to direct employment. SZC is establishing itself to deliver a new nuclear power plant from investment and funding to decommissioning.
