The Role We are looking for a Tube Assembly & Test Technician to join our team, supporting the processing, assembly, and testing of X-ray tubes for our industry-leading scanning systems.
This is a hands-on role within a high-tech manufacturing environment, working with sophisticated vacuum and high-voltage equipment.
Key Responsibilities Assemble and test X-ray tubes ready for integration into scanning systems
Operate vacuum bake-out ovens and associated vacuum equipment
Conduct tube activation, assembly completion, and preparation for testing
Perform high-voltage conditioning and testing
Diagnose and rectify vacuum leaks
Carry out basic fault finding on tubes, equipment, and vacuum systems
Support wiring loom build and general assembly activities
Complete accurate data recording (Excel-based) and shift reports
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and test rigs
Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required
Ensure compliance with COSHH and health & safety standards
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workspace
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Key Requirements 34 years experience in a technical/engineering or manufacturing environment
Experience operating complex manufacturing, scientific, or test equipment
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes
Comfortable working with computer-controlled equipment (HMI interfaces)
Good team player with strong communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting
Knowledge of safe working practices
Desirable (Not Essential) Experience with vacuum systems or high-voltage equipment
Background in X-ray, medical, or scientific equipment manufacturing
Cleanroom experience
Helium leak testing or vacuum system maintenance
Familiarity with quality systems, COSHH, 5S, or Six Sigma
Experience using lifting equipment (e.g., gantry cranes)
Qualifications ONC/HND in Engineering or Scientific discipline, or equivalent experience
