Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive school community. This is a full-time position, working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the primary phase.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
Support pupils with EHCPs and contribute to reviewing targets and progress.
Assist with behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation support.
Promote inclusion, independence, and positive self-esteem.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
Contribute to maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 TA).
Experience working with primary-aged children with SEND.
Knowledge of a range of SEND needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive attitude.
The ability to build supportive relationships with pupils and staff.
