You will join a team in a residential service in Edgbaston housing 7 individuals with sensory and learning disabilities. The individuals we support lead a happy, varied and fulfilled lifestyle that reflects their individuality and preferences. A new individual is joining the service and we are looking for a Support Worker to help them transition and settle into their new home.
This is a permanent role, working 15 hours per week. We are passionate about supporting individuals with complex needs, including mobility impairment, learning disabilities and sensory losses. Care is provided around the clock. We take pride in the range of activities and wellbeing events we provide, supporting an active lifestyle.
Responsibilities
* Support individuals with activities such as bike riding, trampolining, swimming, theme parks, day trips to places of interest, and playing computer games.
* Assist with everyday tasks including cooking and cleaning.
* Provide personal care and hygiene support.
* Support with finances and medication and wellbeing as required.
* Assist individuals to work, and accompany them into the community for shopping or other trips.
* Support social life and nightlife, ensuring care is tailored to each person's needs and preferences.
* Help empower individuals to live an independent life, respecting their individuality.
Requirements/Qualifications
* Enthusiastic, positive, with a can-do attitude; caring and empathetic; passionate about enhancing other people’s lives.
* Willing to attend training as needed to support your role.
* Must have a full manual UK driving license and be willing/able to drive.
* Experience or willingness to work with people with complex disabilities.
* Ability to adapt to variations in daily duties; no two days will be the same.
