A long established civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Hertfordshire is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the operational delivery of multiple projects. The company has a strong reputation for reliable project delivery, high safety standards and long term client relationships across infrastructure, commercial and specialist civils work. The role is a mix of site and office based, with projects located across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire, Essex, Berkshire and Northamptonshire. The head office is in Hemel Hempstead.
Role Overview
This position involves assisting with the operational management of several projects or one larger project, ensuring that health, safety, quality and programme requirements are met. The successful candidate will work closely with the commercial team and contribute to tendering, planning and general project administration.
Responsibilities
Assisting with the operational management of multiple civils and groundworks projects
Supporting health, safety and quality standards on site
Preparing RAMS and Works Package Plans
Producing lift plans
Producing project programmes and short term programmes
Planning and managing labour, plant and materials
Managing quality processes including Inspection Test Plans and Work Inspection Sheets
Carrying out site measures
Attending site, progress and programme meetings
Working alongside the commercial team
Assisting with tenders
Maintaining accurate records and general project administration
Working between site and office depending on project needs
Requirements
Minimum seven years experience within the civil engineering sector
Strong site based experience
Experience working for a contractor or subcontractor
Relevant CSCS card
SMSTS or SSSTS preferred, training can be provided
Construction related degree or equivalent
Full clean driving licence
Ability to produce and update programmes using MS Project or similar
Good communication skills in written and spoken English
Strong people management and organisational skills
Good commercial awareness
Willingness to travel between projects and the Hemel Hempstead office, generally within one to one and a half hours

Full time role
Standard hours are ten hours per day, Monday to Friday, with a one hour break
Salary negotiable within a £65,000 to £75,000 package
