We are currently recruiting for Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our team in the Wastewater Division based at the Wantage Sewage Treatment Works.
As a successful candidate, you will use your mechanical & electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimal supervision, ensuring all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers.
Responsibilities
* Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
* Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up‑to‑date technical knowledge and support technical trainees if required.
* Work on various pumps, control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves, penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, PLCs, variable speed drives, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
* Participate in a standby rota following relevant training.
Qualifications
* Time‑served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a “true multi‑skilled” capacity.
* Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnosis, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
* For individuals with mechanical or electrical experience only, we will develop dual‑skilled status.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.
* Physical fitness required; confined spaces and appropriate training completed.
* Valid driving licence essential; vehicle and tools provided.

Working Pattern 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Plus, standby & overtime opportunities increase earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.
All PPE and tools are provided.
You must have previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in Electrical engineering with an up skill in mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial.
