Interim Assistant Accountant
Location: Birmingham (Central - office-based, 5 days per week)
Contract: 6 month FTC (strong potential to extend)
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000
The Opportunity
An outstanding opportunity for an ambitious Interim Assistant Accountant to join a high-performing finance team within a well established Birmingham-based organisation.
This role offers broad exposure across month-end, reporting, and transactional finance, making it ideal for a driven candidate looking to step up and further develop their accounting skill set in a large, structured finance environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting month-end close including journals, accruals and prepayments
2. Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
3. Supporting management accounts preparation
4. Analysing financial data and investigating variances
5. Assisting with audit queries and reporting requirements
6. Supporting transactional teams where required
7. Driving process improvements and efficiencies
About You
8. Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a varied Accounts Assistant role
9. Previous interim/contract experience essential
10. Proven ability to hit the ground running in fast-paced teams
11. Ideally AAT qualified or actively studying (ACCA/CIMA desirable)
12. Experience within medium to large finance teams
13. Strong Excel and analytical skills
14. High attention to detail with a proactive mindset
