Role Overview
This role sits at the heart of the Science Department, supporting the delivery of outstanding practical science learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive, safety-conscious, and deeply committed to supporting exceptional teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing high-quality practical materials, reagents, and equipment for KS3, GCSE, and A-Level lessons across all science disciplines.
* Maintaining stock levels, organising chemical storage, and ensuring safe disposal of waste in line with CLEAPSS and H&S guidelines.
* Managing the organisation, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory equipment, including microscopes, glassware, electronic measuring devices, and specialist apparatus.
* Supporting teachers with demonstrations, trial experiments, and adapting resources to suit lesson requirements.
* Overseeing the smooth running of prep rooms, ensuring systems are efficient, labelled, and compliant.
* Ensuring all risk assessments, COSHH documentation, and safety protocols are meticulously followed.
* Coordinating with the Head of Science regarding budget planning, servicing schedules, and resource needs.
* Supporting enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, science fairs, competitions, and open evenings.
* Playing a key role in creating an engaging, stimulating, and safe laboratory environment for pupils at all levels.

Experience & Qualifications Required
* Science Technician experience or a strong scientific background (lab experience beneficial)
* Good understanding of lab safety, COSHH, CLEAPSS
* Highly organised, reliable, and detail-oriented
* Confident preparing complex practicals for Chemistry/Physics/Biology
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team
* DBS required (or willingness to complete one)
