PSV / HGV Engineer (Mechanical and Electrical)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £18.35 per hour + overtime + excellent benefits

Responsibilities
* Diagnose and repair faults on PSV, HGV and Light Goods Vehicles
* Carry out routine electrical inspections, servicing and preventive maintenance
* Install, repair and replace electrical components such as wiring looms, alternators, starter motors, batteries, lighting systems, climate control units and infotainment systems
* Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues
* Ensure all repairs follow manufacturer guidelines and safety standards
* Complete accurate and timely reports on work carried out
* Work alongside mechanics, technicians and engineers within a collaborative depot environment
* Keep up to date with new and emerging vehicle electrical technologies, including hybrid and electric systems
* Participate in overtime and on-call rotations when required
Qualifications
Essential
* Recognised qualification or apprenticeship in Vehicle Electrical or Electronic Systems (or equivalent)
* Hands‑on electrical experience with PSV, HGV or Light Vehicle fleets
* Strong diagnostic capability and confidence working with wiring diagrams and schematics
* Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
* Full UK driving licence. Cat D (PCV) desirable, or willingness to obtain through in‑house training
* Good understanding of electrical safety and compliance in vehicle environments
Desirable
* Experience with hybrid or electric vehicle systems
* Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
* Good communication skills and teamwork ability
