Overview
Marjory Warren Unit OPD/Day Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic, professional staff nurse to join our small friendly team. The role will be varied, working within both the Day Hospital and the Outpatient Department. You will work closely with various teams to offer the best care for our patients on an outpatient / day case basis.
The team is dedicated to maintaining high standards, promoting the Trust’s values and standards. We are looking for highly committed and motivated staff to join our team. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop their clinical skills and knowledge to provide high quality nursing care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
* Provide high quality, effective, individualized care to all patients that is compassionate and caring
* Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care without supervision
* Keep up to date with skills and knowledge
* Comply with NMC professional registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices
* Be proficient in the delivery of care to patients
* Ensure safe administration of drugs in accordance with NMC and local policies
* Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with Stockport NHS Foundation Trust policy and NMC guidelines
* Carry out nursing procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and standards
* Undertake regular mandatory training

The post holder will deliver skilled nursing care to patients using a systematic approach of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating to ensure a high standard of care. They will assist in admissions and discharge processes in line with local procedures and contribute to effective admission pathways and discharge planning. They will engage with patients, relatives and carers to seek their views, gain agreement and keep them informed about treatment and care. They will demonstrate compassion by recognizing and responding to individual needs in a warm, thoughtful, sensitive and helpful way. They will maintain registration and nursing competencies, and comply with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and related documents. They should be flexible to work within other areas or departments to meet the needs of the Trust workforce model and changing service needs.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90, deducted from the first Trust salary. It will also be a condition of employment to join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications Essential: Current 1st level Registration. Desirable: Teaching and Assessing Certificate; relevant post registration courses appropriate to the clinical area.
Knowledge Essential: Computer literacy. Desirable: Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
Experience Essential: Experience of working in the clinical area; experience of delivering patient care. Desirable: Experience of supervising others.
Skills & Abilities Essential: Effective time management; ability to work under pressure; resource management; ability to work effectively in a team; effective written and verbal communication; ability to adapt and cope with change; motivated and problem solving. Desirable: Working towards NMC registration.
