Overview
Third‑time parents are seeking an experienced maternity nurse to support them from mid‑October following the arrival of their newborn. The ideal candidate will provide calm, confident guidance while working in close collaboration with the parents, supporting them to make informed decisions throughout the postnatal period. A respectful, partnership‑based approach within the household is essential.
Responsibilities
* The role will include all nursery duties, along with maintaining a daily log to track feeds, sleep, and overall care.
* The maternity nurse will also monitor the baby’s development and offer informed guidance on age‑appropriate milestones and progress.
* Support the mother in breastfeeding while also introducing bottles, guided by the baby’s needs.
* Help establish a gentle, flexible routine that suits the family’s needs, and apply up‑to‑date knowledge of NHS guidelines and safe sleep practices.
* Where appropriate, involve older children in a positive and inclusive way.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualified Maternity Practitioner (Level 3 minimum).
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a maternity nurse.
* 12‑hour paediatric first aid certificate.
* Enhanced DBS certificate, registered on the update service.
* Available to work 20 hrs + 4 hr break per week, 6 days a week, starting 15 October 2026 for a 12‑week contract.
* Commitment to a residential arrangement in Kimpton, Hertfordshire, with separate room for downtime.
* Comfortable working in a rural setting within the Hertfordshire area, with convenient access to London via a nearby train station.
* Responsible for caring for pets (two low‑shedding dogs) and any other household staff present.
Contract and Compensation
Self‑employed opportunity. Gross hourly rate: £300‑£350 per day.
