Senior Technical Architect – Northampton
About the role
This is a senior, hands‑on architecture position operating in a high‑performance, fast‑paced environment. You’ll be responsible for designing and delivering enterprise‑scale infrastructure and technology solutions that directly support critical business outcomes. You’ll act as the technical authority across multiple domains, shaping long‑term IT strategy while remaining close to delivery. You’ll be engaging deeply with engineering challenges, solving complex problems, and operating as a key escalation point.
What you’ll be doing
* Designing and architecting enterprise IT infrastructure, applications, and cloud solutions
* Defining and delivering strategic technology roadmaps aligned to business objectives
* Leading complex, multi-stream projects across internal teams and third‑party vendors
* Acting as the senior technical escalation point for critical incidents and challenges
* Driving innovation across infrastructure, automation, and system performance
* Managing stakeholders across IT and the wider business, balancing priorities, and delivery
* Ensuring high availability, performance, and security across core systems
What we’re looking for
* Strong background in enterprise architecture across infrastructure, cloud, and applications
* Proven experience operating at a senior technical level within a medium to large environment
* Deep knowledge of virtualisation, storage, messaging systems, and cloud platforms
* Experience with automation, scripting, and orchestration technologies
* Solid understanding of security, performance, and capacity management
* Experience working with ITIL and/or Agile delivery environments
* Ability to lead complex workloads, prioritise effectively, and manage competing demands
* Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis
* Comfortable operating in high‑pressure, fast‑moving environments
