Job overview

Haematology CNS to work with Haematology Consultants to provide care of Haematology patients on both Royal Gwent and Nevill Hall Hospital sites

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team, responsible for leading and developing the Myeloma and Plasma cell team

The post involves the CNS taking on responsibility as “The Cancer Key Worker” undertaking regular Holistic Needs Assessment and referring the patients onto other agencies as appropriate in order to provide comprehensive seamless care throughout the patients’ cancer trajectory.


Main duties of the job

Provide person centred care to a caseload of haematology patients - the caseload will be made up of Myeloma patients

The role encompasses taking a lead role in ensuring robust cross cover exists across the hospital sites providing cover when necessary to ensure a continuous and autonomous nursing service exists.

To contribute to the operational and strategic development of Myeloma service and will be responsible for maintaining professional standards across the specialityensuring timely intervention and high quality patient care.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is fixed term for 12 months due to - meet the needs of the service

* Significant experience in haematology nursing
