The post holder must hold the British Casting Certificate (BCC) and be registered with the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).
Key Responsibilities
Provide casting and technical services to Adult and Paediatric Out‑patient clinics, Accident and Emergency department, Plastics and Hand Management unit, Wards and Operating Theatres.
Lead on teaching standards within the Plaster Room/ Fracture clinic.
Organise and manage own workload across Paediatric, Adult and Plastics departments, Inpatient wards and Theatres.
Manage and oversee Virtual Fracture Clinics, working with Orthopaedic Consultants and other teams to recognise inappropriate referrals or treatments.
Run Shockwave Therapy Clinics.
Assist A&E medical staff and Orthopaedic Consultants with fracture manipulation, using Entonox gas and/or anaesthetic as appropriate, to avoid surgery where possible.

Education and Qualifications
* British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) casting certification.
* Member of British Orthopaedic Association or The Association of Orthopaedic Practitioners, maintaining a professional portfolio.
* Registered Nurse.
Experience
* 3 years working as a band 5 orthopaedic practitioner.
* Experience running a Virtual Fracture Clinic (VFC).
* ESWT (shockwave therapy) trained.
* Experience of leading all or part of a clinical team in practice.
Skills
* Proven leadership and deputyising skills in clinical area.
* Commitment to teaching and learning for self and others.
