The purpose of this role is to provide a high-quality respiratory and rehabilitation service to patients on AMU medical, surgical wards, and HDU, and to assist Band 7 in developing the team and patient pathways within the Trust.
The post-holder is required to participate in rostered weekend and evening on-call work. This role is based at Epsom Hospital but may involve cross-site working.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide and promote a high standard physiotherapy service to adult inpatients at Epsom Hospital.
2. Perform advanced assessment and treatment of acutely ill patients and those with rehabilitation needs, including multi-pathology, complex, or chronic presentations, and maintain related records as an autonomous practitioner.
3. Assess and treat own workload of patients with complex presentations, maintaining associated records.
4. Supervise and teach recently qualified physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students, and contribute to teaching MDT staff.
5. Undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for practice change, and participate in departmental research and audits.
6. Assist the Band 7 Physiotherapist by monitoring caseloads, recording statistics, managing staff, and prioritizing referrals as needed.
