About The Role

We're offering an exciting opportunity to join our public health team as a Public Health Officer focused on insight and evaluation.

In this role, you'll lead a variety of qualitative research and evaluation projects that help us understand local needs and improve health services. Working with colleagues, you'll design and deliver research using methods such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups, and you'll analyse and interpret findings to generate clear, actionable insights and reports.

Your work will span a wide range of topics, including needs assessments, service evaluations, and understanding how local conditions affect health outcomes. You'll draw on behavioural science frameworks to explore people's experiences and identify barriers or enablers to accessing services or making healthy choices.

You'll also be involved in planning and conducting evaluations—developing logic models, producing well-structured reports, and helping ensure that findings are used to inform service design and improvement. While the role is primarily qualitative, you'll also work with quantitative data from surveys or service metrics when needed.

If you're keen to use evidence to make a meaningful impact in public health, we'd love to hear from you.

About The Team You'll Be Working In

The role sits within Hounslow's Behaviour Change and Population Health Management team, a multidisciplinary sub-team in Public Health comprising of analysts, behavioural scientists, and engagement specialists.

The team's remit is to transform data, evidence, research, and local insight into actionable intelligence to support evidence-based decision making, service design, and targeted interventions. Alongside this, the team plays a key role in evaluating services and interventions to understand their impact, generate learning, and inform future delivery.

Working across the Hounslow Borough Based Partnership, the team contributes to improving population health and reducing health inequalities by supporting a range of projects, such as vaccination uptake, sexual health, NHS Health Checks, falls prevention, and addressing the wider determinants of health.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of public health and evidence, applying analytical expertise to inform decisions that improve population health outcomes in Hounslow.

This post reports to the Public Health, Behaviour Change Specialist role.
