Teaching Assistants required to work at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) catering for Key Stage 3 and 4 students who face significant challenges in mainstream settings — including social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). The school is a trauma-informed, therapeutic-thinking school, committed to helping students re-engage with education, build resilience, and access a positive, tailored curriculum. The Role We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, and resilient Teaching Assistants to join our team. In this role, you will: Support students in the classroom, working in both small groups and on a one-to-one basis Help deliver differentiated learning activities tailored to individual student needs Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies in a nurturing way Assist in implementing therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches alongside specialist staff Build strong, trusting relationships with students, supporting their engagement and well‑being Collaborate with teachers, mentors, and other professionals to create personalised learning plans Encourage students to develop independence, life skills, and emotional resilience Person Specification Ideally, you will have: A caring and empathetic nature, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people Patience, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure Good communication skills and a collaborative working style Experience working with young people (especially SEMH or SEND) A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
