About Us: Established in 1997, Taiko is the pioneering manufacturer of sushi for the UK supermarket industry. Over the past 25 years, we have become the most innovative producer of Sushi, Food To Go, Prepared Meals, and Snacking products in the UK, proudly supplying major retailers like Waitrose, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s.
Your Role: As a Specifications Technologist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the legal compliance and safety of our products and packaging. You will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and managing specifications for raw materials, finished products, packaging materials, product labels, and all related documentation.
This position reports directly to the Specification Manager and is essential for maintaining our high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, manage, and maintain specifications for all products produced by Taiko Foods.
* Source and maintain specifications for ingredients, raw materials, and packaging, ensuring accuracy and legality.
* Manage customer-specific websites and databases, advising on policy updates and summarizing information for distribution.
* Facilitate the creation and project management of packaging artwork and label copy, ensuring legality and accuracy.
* Maintain the approved label database and support finished product labeling operations.
* Liaise with the NPD technologist to ensure successful completion of all NPD projects.
* Conduct supplier risk assessments and maintain approved supplier registers, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
* Support allergen management and contribute to the HACCP management system, ensuring compliance with BRC requirements.
* Conduct annual traceability checks for seafood, meat, and packaging suppliers.

* Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
* Proficient computer skills and familiarity with customer website management, particularly for Waitrose.
