The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Contract Managers to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the ASTI & RIIO T3 Onshore Capital Delivery programme.
Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide the necessary pre and post contract procurement and commercial support to some of the largest projects within the SSE portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to grow within the company and contribute to the continued growth of this area of the business.
This role is suitable for someone from a Quantity Surveying background with experience working either on the client or contractor side. No specific experience in the energy sector is required but would be advantageous.
You will
* Negotiate contract T&Cs for projects of significant value (from £20M to £500M) and manage the commercial aspects during the delivery phase, including managing commercial staff.
* Negotiate contract prices, ensure all prices can be substantiated, and provide value for money to consumers.
* Demonstrate stakeholder engagement and management skills, with the ability to influence, lead, and resolve disputes through problem-solving.
* Manage costs and forecasts via regular reporting, adhere to change management procedures, handle payments and expenditures, and conduct cost estimating.
* Provide robust post-contract commercial management to support project goals, including negotiating/agreeing on compensation events and ensuring compliance with the Commercial Manual principles.
* Support the Procurement and Commercial Manager in delivering a world-class procurement and commercial service.
You will have
* A degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification, with professional membership of RICS or CICES being a plus.
* Knowledge of commercial governance for large capital projects, with experience in commercial, contract, or cost management.
* Experience in estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
* Experience drafting and interpreting commercial contracts, with knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke arrangements, including NEC / FIDIC Contracts.
